Man has history of arrests, manhunt continues

A Carson City man who is the focus of a manhunt in the murder of his ex-girlfriend's father and shooting of her mother has a history of violence- and weapon-related arrests, although most of the charges were reduced or dropped, court documents show.

Christopher Allan Fiegehen, 22, is wanted by Douglas County authorities in connection with the murder of Al Chorkey, 50, and attempted murder of his wife, Lorelle Chorkey, 54, in their Johnson Lane-area home early Sunday morning.

Lorelle Chorkey remains in critical condition in an undisclosed hospital. Investigators from the Douglas County Sheriff's Department with the help of the Federal Bureau of Investigation are following leads in hopes of finding Fiegehen.

Fiegehen has been arrested in Carson City at least five times in the last five years, including one time for allegedly assaulting his father, Carson City businessman Al Fiegehen, who later refused to testify against him.

In 1997, at age 18, Fiegehen was arrested March 10 for felony possession of marijuana and unlawful use of a controlled substance. He was also charged with gross misdemeanor possession of a weapon on school property, misdemeanor minor under the influence of alcohol, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of false identification.

Police reports state Fiegehen was reported as being under the influence of drugs. When officers contacted him, they allegedly found marijuana, paraphernalia and a 4-inch knife in his backpack. A preliminary blood test showed an alcohol content of .10, the report states.

Charges in the case were reduced to misdemeanor unlawful transport of a substance in interstate commerce, disorderly conduct and minor consuming alcohol. He was given a one year probation, ordered to undergo substance abuse evaluation and perform 80 hours of community service in lieu of a six-month suspended sentence. Fiegehen successfully completed the conditions of his probation.

Fiegehen was arrested again in 1997 on Sept. 12 for misdemeanor battery on a police officer, minor consuming alcohol and obstructing. According to police reports, Fiegehen allegedly stole hamburgers from the AM/PM Mini Mart on South Carson Street. According to the report, when officers arrived he allegedly shoved one and led police on a foot pursuit.

Fiegehen pleaded guilty to minor consuming alcohol. The District Attorney's Office dropped the other charges.

One March 1, 1999, officers responded to the Fiegehen home to check on the family. According to police reports, Fiegehen and his father got into an argument while fixing a bicycle.

"Subject was in his father's face yelling and pushing," the report states.

"Father went to call the Sheriff's Office at which time subject pulled wall phone from wall and took two cordless phones."

When his father went out to the car to get a cell phone, Fiegehen allegedly put his arm around his father's throat and pushed him into the car.

To prevent his dad from leaving in the car, the report states, Fiegehen began letting the air out of the tires.

At some point, he allegedly threw a crystal vase out of a window when his parents refused to do what he wanted, the report states.

According to a motion to dismiss the charges filed by the District Attorney's Office, "The victim no longer wishes to pursue the charges against his son and will not cooperate with the District Attorney's Office in such prosecution."

The motion also said prosecutors believed they couldn't prove the charge beyond reasonable doubt. In June 1999, the charge was dropped.

Fiegehen agreed to attend anger management classes.

On February 18, 2000, Fiegehen again found himself in the Carson City Jail on charges of drunken driving, minor consuming alcohol and two traffic violations. He pleaded guilty to drunken driving and paid a $665 fine, attended DUI school, a victim impact panel, spent two days in jail and received an alcohol evaluation. Upon successful completion of the programs, all other charges were dropped.

Fiegehen's most recent arrest was last month on Jan. 16.

At 5:32 a.m., Fiegehen was arrested after officers responded to a hit-and-run accident on Ridgecrest Drive.

Fiegehen allegedly hit a parked car and fled on foot. He was caught in the 2600 block of Pinion Pine. According to the report, officers who searched him found a police-issue baton.

"The type of baton is used by law enforcement only after certification," the arresting officer wrote. Fiegehen was unsuccessful at completing the field sobriety test, according to the report.

He was charged with second-offense drunken driving, possession of a concealed dangerous weapon and hit and run.

A Feb. 28 court appearance was waived by Fiegehen. A preliminary trial date has yet to be set.

Douglas County Sheriff Ron Pierini said every investigator with his department is working the case.

"We will probably begin to focus our attentions outside the state of Nevada," he said.

Investigators may be looking as far away as Florida, Pierini said.

Fiegehen was the estranged boyfriend of Lorelle Chorkey's daughter, who recently got a restraining order against him.

"We have to obviously find him," said Pierini. "As far as a motive, we just don't know for sure."

Fiegehen, considered armed and dangerous, is described as a white male about 6 feet tall and weighing about 180 pounds. He has blue eyes, a recently shaved head with possible brown roots, and pierced ears.
