Appeal rolling of new presses tonight

The Nevada Appeal will be rolling off new presses starting tonight.

Beginning with Saturday's edition, the Appeal will be printed on Dauphin Graphic Machines presses located in its building at 580 Mallory Way in Carson City.

News, advertising and circulation offices will remain at 200 Bath St. until March 8, when they will join the production staff at Mallory Way.

Over the next three weeks, while the transition to a new building and new presses is being made, Appeal subscribers may notice some differences in content and delivery service.

While we hope there will be no problems, we built in some extra time for production of the newspaper -- just in case. Newsroom deadlines were moved up a couple of hours, which could cause us to miss a late-breaking news story or sports score.

Earlier deadlines will allow us to maintain our early-morning delivery schedule. If we run into a snag and are running a little late, be assured your carrier is on the way and will deliver a Nevada Appeal every day.

The new presses also will be printing our sister newspapers -- The Record-Courier, Tahoe Daily Tribune, North Lake Tahoe Bonanza, Tahoe World and Sierra Sun.

We're looking forward to the March 8 move to our new building -- it will be a busy weekend for us -- and ask that you bear with us over the next couple of weeks.

The result will be a consistently better-looking Nevada Appeal, improved service for our subscribers and renewed commitment to this newspaper's 136-year tradition in Carson City.
