A graveside service for Thomas Leo Daugherty Sr., 76, a Gardnerville resident for the past 22 years, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Fernley.
Mr. Daugherty died Feb. 25, 2002, at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center. He was born June 2, 1925, in Eagle, Colo., to Leo P. and Rachel Clardy Daugherty.
He married Edith Tryfonas July 13, 1946, in Helper, Utah.
Before moving to Gardnerville, he lived in Los Angeles.
Mr. Daugherty was an electrician. He was an avid outdoorsman and served as co-chairman of the Democratic party in Douglas County from 1986-89.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his brother Edward.
Among his survivors are his wife Edith of Gardnerville; sons Thomas Jr. and Jerry L., both of Los Angeles; brothers John of Meeker, Colo., and Frank of Glenwood Springs, Colo.; sisters Ida Daugherty of Rifle, Colo., Pauline Bowles of Basalt, Colo., and Analee Kirkham of Glenwood Springs; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Capitol City Cremation & Burial Society is in charge of arrangements.
