Obituary: Doris Lucille Lewis Derby

Private services were held for Doris Lucille Lewis Derby, 98, mother of Lahontan Valley News & Fallon Eagle Standard co-publisher Ludie Lewis Henley.

Mrs. Derby died Dec. 20, 2001 at Crown Cove Assisted Living Community in Newport Beach, Calif. She was buried at Forest Lawn in Southern California.

Born in Nebraska, she graduated from the University of Nebraska and was a Cornhusker fan.

She moved with her parents to California in the late 1920s and taught in the Los Angeles public school system for more than 30 years.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Ludie and David C. Henley; a daughter-in-law Lois R. Lewis of Newport Beach; five grandchildren and six great grand children.

O'Connor Mortuary of Laguna Hills, Calif., was in charge of arrangements.
