A funeral Mass for Mary Rose Cardoza, 83, a Gardnerville resident for the past 10 years, will be at 1 p.m. today at St. Gall Catholic Church in Gardnerville with Father Bill Nadeau presiding.
A Rosary was Thursday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.
Mrs. Cardoza died Jan. 7, 2002, at her home. She was born Nov. 6, 1918, in Southeaston, Mass., to Perfiro and Amelia Frates Ornellas.
Before moving to Gardnerville 10 years ago, she lived in Santa Cruz, Calif.
Mrs. Cardoza was a cashier for the Skyview Drive-In Theater and loved her job. She loved flowers and gardening. She was an avid reader and enjoyed collecting dolls. She was a Catholic.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years Abel; grandson Daniel Cobbs and great-granddaughter Cassandra E. Love in 1984.
Among her survivors are her sons Edward and Robert of Gardnerville and Thomas of Vancouver, Wash.; daughters Mary Cobbs and Alice Campa of Vancouver, Wash., Elaine Bordier of Estacada, Ore. and Amelia Murray of Marysville, Wash.; brothers Francis Frates of Laughlin and Joseph Ornellas of Artesia, Calif.; sisters Hilda Almeida of Northeaston, Alice Pelchat of Norton, Mass. and Olive Henriques of Brookton, Mass.; six grandsons; 11 granddaughters and 26 great-grandchildren.
Burial will be at Eastside Memorial Park Cemetery.
Walton's Douglas County Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
