Investigators are still trying to determine what caused the death of an 82-year-old Carson City woman found deceased in her burning home Sunday afternoon.

Virginia Moore Evans Priolo, a 15-year resident, was found dead Sunday afternoon in her Gold Leaf home in the Comstock Mobile Home Park. Firefighters responding to the report of a fire around 3 p.m. discovered Priolo in the kitchen.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

It is unclear whether she had a heart attack while cooking and a fire ignited or whether the fire was the cause of death.

According to Carson City coroner Norm Nunes, a definite cause of death awaits toxicology test results which can take a few weeks.

According to neighbor Elaine Dale, firefighters pulled Priolo's dog from the home and revived it, but it later died at the veterinarian's office.

She is survived by her daughter Virginia Rose; grandson, Steven Rose and granddaughter Shelly Asher, all of Carson City.

A memorial service will be held at the Hilltop Community Church in Jacks Valley on Saturday 1:30 p.m.
