A celebration of life for Raymond James Ringwald, 59, a Gardnerville resident for the past three years, will be from 1-3 p.m. Saturday at the Carson Valley Christian Center with Pastor John Jackson.
Mr. Ringwald died Jan. 26, 2002, at Carson-Tahoe Hospital from complications following surgery. He was born Sept. 21, 1942, in San Bernardino, Calif., to Ellis and Ruth Stout Ringwald.
He graduated from Pacific High School in San Bernardino in 1961.
Before moving to Gardnerville, he lived in Ventura, Calif.
He married Judi Lainhart in December 1962.
Mr. Ringwald worked for Chevron Oil Production in the Los Angeles Basin as a well puller, leadman, mechanic and ultimately Operations Supervisor of Offshore Platforms, Santa Barbara Channel. He retired from Chevron in June 1998 after 33 years of service.
He was a member of the Chevron Retirees Association, Sierra Nevada Radio Control Airplane Club and the Santa Barbara Turtle and Tortoise Club. He was a Christian.
He served as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, N.C. from 1962-65.
Among his survivors are his wife Judi and tortoise Sunshine of Gardnerville; mother Ruth Williams of San Bernardino; son, Scott and granddaughter Marissa of San Dimas, Calif.; daughter and son-in-law Lisa and Mikel Foster and grandson Christian of Covina, Calif.; brother Robert of Eureka, Calif.; sister and brother-in-law Evelyn and Joe Wall of Alta Loma, Calif.; sister and brother-in-law Karen and Jerry Jenkins of Tallahassee, Fla. and many other relatives and friends.
Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
