Carson City's Jaycees are preparing to do a little searching of their own in order to pay for their annual Easter Egg Hunt.
Each year, female members of the club dress up as Playboy bunnies and hit the bars to raise cash for the hunt.
Shannon Leddy said the bunnies will begin making their rounds at 5 tonight.
"We do this so that the Easter Egg hunt stays free," she said. "We make the rounds; some bars we go to twice."
This year they will be joined by the Easter Bunny. Five members of the Jaycees will don the cotton bunny tail in an effort to seek out the $3,000 it takes to purchase, dye and boil more than 2,000 dozen -- 24,000 -- eggs they will then hide for Carson City children at Governor's Field Easter morning, March 31.
The Jaycees, members of the Carson City Area Chamber of Commerce, have been dressing as Playboy bunnies for more than 10 years. Last year the group raised about $1,500, Leddy said.
In addition, the group searches out contributions from area businesses to help purchase prizes ranging from McDonald's gift certificates to the grand prize -- a new bike.
Separate hunts are offered by age group and a hunt is offered to special needs children.
Bunnies will be at the Carson Lanes bowling alley, Bodine's, El Charro Avitia's, Bully's, the Old Globe, Mo and Sluggo's, Red's Old 395 Grill, Joe Bob's Chicken, Decades bar, Cheers, Kathy's Some Place Else and the K-Bar, among others.
While not dressing up in Playboy regalia, Leddy has done a stint in a bunny suit.
"I was the Easter Bunny last year," the Carson City native said. "I'm not doing it this year. I'll just help collect money and stuff."
Those who cannot make it to a bunny stop tonight can donate by calling 882-7207.
The club has been in Carson City for about 30 years.
