A funeral service for Dorothy Darlene DeVore Loesch, 77, will be held Saturday at 5 p.m. at Calvary Chapel, 1004 Dresslerville Road, Gardnerville.
Mrs. Loesch died March 10, 2002, at her Gardnerville home.
She was born July 4, 1924, in Alpena, S.D., to Russell Thomas and Jessie Butler DeVore.
As a teenager, she moved to Southern California where she met and married Wilbert Loesch May 8, 1943, in Anaheim, Calif.
In 1950, the couple moved with their three children to San Jose, Calif., where Mrs. Loesch was active in the PTA, serving several terms as president.
In 1960, the family moved to South Lake Tahoe where she and her husband owned Loesch's Bakery for 11 years.
For several years, Mrs. Loesch collected donations to provide Christmas presents for the children at Eagle Valley Children's Home in Carson City.
The couple sold their bakery and moved to Gardnerville in 1974.
Mrs. Loesch was an active member of the John C. Fremont Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was an avid reader and a Revolutionary War and Civil War history buff.
Predeceasing Mrs. Loesch were her parents, husband and daughter Carol Layne.
Surviving are her children, Cheryl Loesch of Seattle, Steven Loesch of Sparks and Mary Riley of Gardnerville; grandchildren Sarah Tweedy of Gardnerville and Timothy Loesch and Rebecca Loesch, both of Reno; great-grandson Colby James Loesch of Reno; brothers Monte Clodt of Redmond, Wash., and Terry Clodt and his wife Maxine of Las Vegas; nephews Darryl Clodt of Las Vegas and Bill Clodt of Birchwood, Tenn.; and niece Laura Jo West of Las Vegas.
The family requests memorial donations be made to Calvary Chapel, Box 508, Gardnerville 89410.
