Obituary: Ione K. Menton

A service for Ione K. Menton, 86, a Gardnerville resident for the past 14 years, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.

Mrs. Menton died May 26, 2002, at Carson Convalescent Center. She was born July 27,1915, in Ladysmith, Wis., to Frank and Clara Bonnenkamp Stevens.

She married Kenneth Menton June 1937 in California. He preceded her in death in 1993 in Carson City.

Before moving to Gardnerville, she lived in La Canada, Calif. for 40 years.

Mrs. Menton was a secretary. She and her husband owned and operated a heating and air conditioning business in Glendale, Calif., for 35 years. She was a member of the Eastern Star. She loved to travel, crochet and reading.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by son Martin in 1980.

Among her survivors are her daughter and son-in-law Sally and Jim Harper of Gardnerville; grandchildren Michael Evans of Washoe Valley and Mark Evans of Canyon County, Calif.; great-grandchildren Sarah, Emily, Daniel and Robert and two great-grandchildren.

Burial will be at Eastside Memorial Cemetery.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
