Obituary: Renaldo Anthony Savenelli

Mass will be celebrated for 41-year Carson City resident Renaldo Anthony Savenelli at 4 p.m. Tuesday at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church.

Mr. Savenelli died Oct. 30, 2002, at Carson-Tahoe Hospital. He was born May 4, 1926, in Bradenville, Pa., to Anthony and Laura Agostinone Savenelli. He was 76.

He graduated from Derry Township High School in Derry, Pa., in 1944. He was a 1952 graduate of Indiana Central College, where he earned a bachelor of science degree in education. He received his master of arts degree from Northern Arizona University in 1972.

He married Janiel Kay on June 12, 1965, at St. Teresa Catholic Church in Carson City.

Mr. Savenelli was a business teacher and taught at Laurel Indiana High School from 1952 to 1955; at Fallon High School from 1955 to 1961; at Carson High School from 1961 to 1988; and night classes at Western Nevada Community College from 1970 to 1982.

From 1945 to 1946, Mr. Savenelli served in the U.S. Army as a Tech. 4 supply clerk. He earned the Army of Occupation, European African, Eastern Campaign and the World War II Victory medals.

He was a member of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church and the Elks.

Prior to moving to Carson City Mr. Savenelli lived in Bradenville from 1926 to 1945; in Indianapolis from 1946 to 1952; in Laurel, Ind., from 1952 to 1955; and in Fallon from 1955 to 1961.

Mr. Savenelli was preceded in death by his parents and numerous aunts and uncles.

Among his survivors are his wife, Janiel Kay of Carson City; his daughters and sons-in-law Paula and Matthew Schulte of Fox River Grove, Ill., and Lisa and Roger Panelli of Sparks; sisters Clara Vitale and Stella Digirolamo, both of Bradenville, Mary "Mamie" Churbock of Canonsburg, Pa., and Edith "Babes" Prodin of Jamestown, N.Y.; one grandchild and 22 nieces and nephews.

Cremation was held at Walton's Chapel of the Valley. Inurnment will be at St. Rose Cemetery in Bradenville following a Nov. 29 memorial service at St. Rose Church in LaTrobe, Pa. Father Donahue will officiate.
