Amy E. Booth, a nurse practitioner with Reno Heart Physicians in Carson City, and a former assistant professor at the University of Nevada in the Orvis School of Nursing, has been named the 2002 Nevada recipient of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners' State Award of Excellence.
Booth received a master of public health degree from Boston University School of Public Health and a master of science degree in nursing from Vanderbilt University School of Nursing.
The American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, through the organization's State Awards for Excellence, recognized nurse practitioners throughout the nation who exemplify excellent health care delivery within their professional practice. Booth was nominated for this award for her work at the University of Nevada which includes the recent publication, "Management Care Guidelines for Nurse Practitioners working in Family Practice (2003, FA Davis), which she co-authored.
She was also recognized for her legislative work on SB 52, which granted Nevada Nurse Practitioners the ability to prescribe controlled substances.
