Lois M. Murphy died Oct. 19, 2002 in Carson City. She was 88 years old.
Lois was born April 10, 1914 in Virginia City to Cary "Tex" Rector and Lorena Fava Rector. She was raised in Virginia City, graduating from Virginia City High School in 1933. Lois moved to Carson City in 1956. She worked as a secretary for the Department of Labor. She was a Catholic and an active member of St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Carson City who participated in the church's Altar Society and Young Ladies Institute.
Lois also enjoyed painting and reading.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver John Murphy, who passed away in 1975; two brothers, Cary and Raymond Rector; and one sister, Edna Rosso. Lois is survived by a daughter, Mary Jeppson of Reno; five grandchildren, Joseph, Robert, Allan, Leon and Mary Shaw; and five great-grandchildren.
A Rosary will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Theresa's. A funeral Mass will follow. Internment will be at Lone Mountain Cemetery.
