Washoe Medical Center is readying a
major expansion of its South Meadows
campus in Reno.
Plans include construction of two new
buildings a diagnostic and treatment
pavilion and a medical office building that
will house physicians' offices as well as the
Washoe Institute for Neurosciences.
The projects total 116,000 square feet
and are scheduled for completion in early
2004. HMC Architects of Nevada is the
designer. Shaver Construction Inc. and
Gough Construction won contracts for
the work.
"The project is designed to meet the
growing demand for health care in the
region," said Kellie Tormey of the Washoe
Health System marketing communications
staff.
Washoe Medical Center has operated
Washoe Village in the South Meadows
area since 1999, and Tormey said the village
was designed with the facilities to
allow for conversion to a full-service medical
center as expanded medical services
were needed in the fast-growing southern
area of Reno.
