Even as Mark Griffin was consumed with the details of opening the Lisa's Central Market store in Reno last week, he was thinking about his company's next store location.

If all goes well, that store the third for the Truckee-based company will open in the Sacramento area this autumn.

No site has been selected.

That's part of a five-year plan to open Lisa's Central Market stores along the West Coast.

The limiting geographic factor, Griffin said last week, will be the company's desire to open stores within a 12- hour truck drive from central distribution facilities at Sacramento and Los Angeles.

That's critical for the company, which bills itself as an urban farmers market, because it doesn't use big grocery wholesalers.

Instead, the company's new 4,000- square-foot store at McCarran Boulevard and Lakeside Drive in south Reno as well as its original store at Truckee are dominated by the company's own branded merchandise.

It buys organic produce direct from farmers.

The Reno store also includes a prepared foods take-out department and a juice bar.

The Truckee store was opened in 2001 by Griffin and his wife, Lisa Boudreau.

They've worked in catering, natural foods distribution and specialty grocery businesses.
