Northern Nevada Medical Center's online magazine, Living Well, has been recognized among the best with a merit award in the spring 2003 World Wide Web Awards.
The e-zine version of the facility's quarterly publication was honored in the Hospital/Health Care System Division, Health Promotion/Disease and Injury Prevention Information Class.
The World Wide Web Awards are presented semi-annually by the Health Information Resource Center, a clearinghouse for consumer health programs, to recognize the best health-related Web sites for consumers and professionals.
Northern Nevada's award was in the class citing excellence in information that helps consumers stay healthy or prevent injury and disease.
"At a time when more people are going online for health information, we're thrilled to have been selected for our online magazine which aims to make health information clear and compelling for readers," said Susan Hill, Northern Nevada Medical Center director of marketing.
"We're especially proud that our content is entirely written, edited and medically reviewed by Northern Nevada Medical Center staff and associated physicians."
The hospital contracts with healthcare publisher Health Ink & Vitality for both the printed and online versions of Living Well.
Northern Nevada Medical Center's magazine has been published quarterly since 1994, with the name Living Well since 2001.
It went online with the spring, 2003 edition.
"Our mailed circulation is more than 80,000, but going online exposes Northern Nevada's programs and staff expertise to many thousands more every month," Hill noted.
