Reno photographer Ira Gostin planned an ambitious schedule of workshops for amateur photographers this year.

Too ambitious, in fact.

"We were pretty aggressive and tried to do a lot of stuff.

But we didn't put a lot of advertising into it," Gostin says.

"We tried to do too much with too little staff."

This year, the calendar of workshops offered by Gostin Photography will be scaled back and the company is looking for ways to make them more affordable to photographers whose pocketbooks have been pinched by the economy.

Gostin, busy with his own photographic work, says he learned this year to keep the workshops from consuming all his attention.
