Judge gives Hamdogs robber 20-year sentence

MINDEN - A Gardnerville man received a 20-year prison sentence Tuesday for using a gun to rob Hamdogs Restaurant in September.

Tracey Lock, 29, won't be eligible for parole for five years.

Lock apologized to the court and told the judge he is getting what he deserves.

"I let down a lot of people," he said. "I would give anything in the world to take this back."

Robbery is punishable by two to 15 years in the Nevada State Prison. Use of a deadly weapon in the commission of a robbery requires that the sentence of the original offense be doubled and served separately.

The 10-year sentence that District Court Judge David Gamble gave Lock for robbery became 20 years under the armed robbery enhancement.

Gamble told him that he could not condone the "horrible danger" presented to the public.

"This is beyond the pale of what society allows," he said.

"And we're going to take you out of society for a period of time," Gamble concluded.

No one was hurt in the robbery. Two employees and one customer were in the restaurant about 2 a.m. when Lock entered wearing a mask.

Lock's attorney Tod Young argued for a 28-month sentence.

Gamble told Lock that his apology was what he wanted to hear. Lock has previous convictions and was registered as an ex-felon before the robbery.

"I actually believe you've got a good shot at having a life when you get out of here," Gamble said.
