Helen Christine Douglass, 84, a Gardnerville resident for the past seven years, died Dec. 28, 2003, at home. She was born April 12, 1919, in Oakland, Calif., to Gunner and Hannah Johnson Eklof.
She graduated from Roosevelt High School in Oakland and attended one year of college.
She married Dave Douglass Nov. 30, 1945, in Reno.
Before moving to Gardnerville, she had lived in Oakland for most of her life.
Mrs. Douglass was a medical insurance supervisor for Montgomery Ward in Oakland for many years. She had been a member of a sewing club in Oakland since 1937. She loved to shop and work crossword puzzles.
Among her survivors are her husband; daughters Barbara Martinez of Gardnerville and Teri Ward of Irvine, Calif.; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Cremation will be at Walton's Sierra Crematory.
Walton's Douglas County Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
