Police say they have no clues in the theft of more than a dozen guns and cash totaling $11,000.

Someone broke into Old West Guns late Monday or early Tuesday in the 2000 block of Highway 50 East by smashing the glass front door. An initial estimate of possibly 30 guns missing turned out to be only 17 on closer inspection, said Carson City Sheriff's Detective Sgt. Bob White. Two of the weapons were inoperable collector's items. The business does not sell ammunition, he said.

White said the crime scene yielded no fingerprints, and there were no surveillance cameras or alarm at the business.

The company's safe was found opened and abandoned on Lepire Hill on Tuesday afternoon with its contents - six pistols, cash and seven car titles - missing.

Anyone with information on the theft or who may have seen someone on Lepire Hill just north of the Fifth Street and Edmonds Drive roundabout is asked to contact the Sheriff's Department at 887-2020, ext. 1400.
