Carson City Manager John Berkich spent his last day at City Hall Friday after nearly 13 years to become an assistant county manager in Washoe County.

The nearby move is leaving many Carson officials with hopes he will continue his work encouraging surrounding counties to work regionally with Carson City, officials said during his last regular meeting Jan. 16.

During the meeting, Mayor Ray Masayko presented Berkich with a framed resolution highlighting his successes and a General city commemoration plaque.

"This man lived this job and his accomplishments show it," Masayko said during the presentation.

Interim manager Andy Burnham, the city's Development Services director, will take the helm Monday. City supervisors and staff have started searching for a replacement in Nevada and Eastern California.

Supervisors plan to name three final candidates April 3, then interview and select a manager April 17.
