Three little words: "Quite a task." With them, Randy Sidwell describes the job that's ahead after UPS announced last week that it will re-brand its Mail Boxes Etc.

franchise network as The UPS Store.

Of the 3,300 franchised stores covered by the announcement, the Reno-based company owned by Sidwell and his wife, Susan a company known as Unlimited Opportunities LLC is responsible for about 100.

The Sidwells' firm is area franchisee for a region that stretches from Stockton and Modesto in California to the Reno area.

The announcement by UPS, which has owned Mail Boxes Etc.

since 2001, means the Sidwells now need to work with owners of the individual franchises on tasks ranging from revised franchise agreements to new signage.

While the change means a lot of work, Randy Sidwell sees it a positive for franchisees.

While Mail Boxes Etc.

was a strong brand, he said UPS brand is even stronger.

UPS said store owners who switch to the new brand also will be able to provide lower prices on UPS shipping services.
