WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- Walnut Creek police blew up a small explosive device early Monday and arrested a Nevada man.

Authorities said they pulled Allen Clements of Stateline over at about 3:30 a.m. on a routine traffic stop. Officers allegedly found the bomb while searching Clements' truck.

Two blocks were cordoned off and the bomb squad was called. They blew the device up in a field a few blocks away.

Clements was booked for investigation of possessing and transporting an explosive device. He was being held on $1 million bail.

Two people with him in the truck were questioned and then released.
