69 franchisees join Assist-2-Sell during past year

Reno-based Assist-2-Sell, which bills itself as North America's largest full service residential discount real estate company, said it added 69 new franchises in 2002.

The expansion brings the total number of Assist-2- Sell franchises in 42 states and Canada to 219, up more than 43 percent from Dec.

Assist-2-Sell franchises provide the services of a professional real estate broker for a single flat fee.

Assist-2-Sell projects it'll have at least 500 locally owned and operated franchises in the United States and Canada by the fourth quarter of 2005.

In mid-2002, LaMeres-Pomin and Martin projected the company would have at least 300 franchises by the fourth quarter of 2003.

Growth remains on track to meet that projection, they said last week.

Assist-2-Sell requires its franchise owners to be experienced residential real estate brokers, and the franchisees receive further training at its Reno headquarters.

Privately held, Assist-2-Sell was founded in 1987.

Locations of its new franchises in 2002 included: California, 14; Florida, 7; Texas, 6; Georgia, 5; Colorado, 5; Missouri, 3; Tennessee, 3; Nevada, 2; Idaho, 2; Connecticut, 2; Virginia, 2; Pennsylvania, 2; Illinois, 2; Iowa, 1; North Carolina, 1; Nebraska, 1; Indiana, 1; Hawaii, 1; Maryland, 1; Oregon, 1; New Mexico, 1; Arizona, 1; Minnesota; 1; and West Virginia, 1.

Two franchises opened in Canada.
