Intuit, which employs more than 500 people in the Reno area, last week was named by Fortune magazine to its list of "100 Best Companies to Work For." To be selected, companies allow the magazine to survey employees at random on issues such as trust in management, culture, communication and camaraderie.
The selection by Fortune also includes a review of the company's demographics, benefits, compensation and work-life balance offerings.
Sherry Whitely, Intuit's senior vice president of human resources, said the Fortune selection supports Intuit's internal surveys which find that 81 percent of employees think the company is a great place to work.
She said employees particularly like a program that gives them 32 hours a year of paid time off to volunteer at community events.
