Outdoor gear to to be spotlighted in expo

A Reno-based special events promotions firm will launch the Great Adventure Marketplace Expo March 21- 23.

The consumer-oriented show will run at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center.

It's promoted by DC Expositions Inc.

Great Adventure Marketplace Expo GAME, for short is designed to allow consumers to interact directly with suppliers of outdoor gear.

A half pipe and vertical ramp, a skateboarding street course, an outdoor snow park, kayak pools and climbing walls will allow demonstrations of outdoor sports equipment, said Gabrielle Collier, vice president of DC Expositions.

She said the company expects to draw about 30,000 people to the show, including consumers from Sacramento and the San Francisco Bay area.

Collier said GAME is unusual because it's a trade show at which consumers can purchase directly from exhibitors.

"The consumer is educated and entertained by the newest products, is able to try them on site and can take them home at the end of the day," she said.

More typically, she said, a trade show involves only suppliers and retailers.

Collier said DC Expositions believes a direct-to-consumer show will provide access to hard-to-find products, will help retain tough-to-fit customers and allow suppliers to reach new customers.

The promotions firm has set a $15 admission for the entire weekend of the show.
