A gas leak in Truckee closed businesses on Thursday afternoon, said Alex Terazas, assistant to the city manager.
The leak, of an undetermined type of gas, closed a section of Donner Pass Road near State Route 89.
"The area's contained. I'd say it's in control at this time," Terazas said at 5:50 p.m.
Terazas said the leak, which started at about 12:45 p.m., was either propane or natural gas. There was no smell of gas in the air, he said.
No residents were evacuated. Officers with the Truckee Police Department and Truckee Fire District went to the scene, as well as Southwest Gas Co. employees and workers with the Truckee Utility District.
Terazas said the leak was about a half-mile or mile from Truckee's old town area. The cause of the leak was under investigation.
