A memorial service for Emil Leising, 87, a Gardnerville resident for the past 49 years, will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.
Mr. Leising died July 3, 2003, at Carson-Tahoe Hospital. He was born Dec. 10, 1915, in Arapahoe, Neb., to Walter and Marie Leising.
He attended grammar school and high school in Arapahoe, entered seminary preparatory school at age 15, and Concordia Seminary and was ordained in 1942.
He married Bernice Dewall in Minnesota. She preceded him in death.
Mr. Leising was a Lutheran minister. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was pastor emeritus there.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his son Timothy.
Among his survivors are his son and daughter-in-law Nathan and Christine; sisters Agnes Green of Oregon and Evelyn of Idaho; brothers Martin of Arizona and Armin of Nebraska; grandchildren Aaron, Justine and Jessica; and great-grandchild Payton.
Burial will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Garden Cemetery in Gardnerville.
Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church Ministry Scholarship Fund.
Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
