Minnesota firm wins road trip

of Burnsville, Minn., was the low bidder on the Nevada Department of Transportation contract to complete the first phase of the Carson City bypass.

Bids on another major NDOT contract on Highway 395 south of Reno, meanwhile, are due to be opened Aug.

Ames Construction $69 million on the Carson bypass project, which involves building the freeway from near Arrowhead Drive at the north edge of the city to its intersection with Highway 50 near Pinon Plaza.

Bids will be opened early next month, for construction of bridges along the route of the Highway 395 freeway between Mount Rose Highway and the Washoe Valley.

The bridge project is estimated by NDOT at $80 million; the freeway is expected to be finished at the end of this decade.
