A wrench aimed at the tax works?

Whatever taxes the Nevada legislature passes, they may not get far if the Nevada Taxpayers Association has anything to do with it.

The business-based group may file for an injunction against any tax bill that contains a gross receipts tax without accompanying tax reform measures.

Carole Vilardo, president of the group and a well-respected lobbyist, said she will go to her board with that suggestion if lawmakers pass such a bill.

According to the Legislative Counsel Bureau, laws have been enjoined in the past, most recently an abortion bill that was reversed.
