Glamis Gold Ltd.
of Reno said last week it received the key permits and approvals necessary to construct its El Sauzal Mine in Chihuahua State, Mexico.
Glamis said it is immediately beginning full-scale construction activities at the site, including construction of expanded camp facilities, site preparation work for the mill facilities and construction of the shop and administration buildings.
Construction of an access road to the project had previously started under separate permits.
The company said it remains on schedule to start commercial gold production at El Sauzal during the first quarter of 2005.
El Sauzal is expected to contribute average annual production of 190,000 ounces of gold at a total cash cost of $110 per ounce over a 10-year mine life.
