MINA -- A shooting injured two people -- one critically -- and shut down U.S. 95 for about two hours in this tiny town about 150 miles southeast of Reno, authorities said.
Mineral County sheriff's Sgt. Dave Cornell said a man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a long standoff ended early Saturday morning at a Mina house along the highway.
The sheriff's department did not release the names of the suspect or two victims. All three were believed to be from the Mina area.
A man and woman were flown to Washoe Medical Center in Reno, where one was in critical condition and the other's condition was unknown, Cornell said.
Sheriff's deputies responded to the house after a report of a shooting shortly after 9 p.m. Friday. After the two injured people were found, a SWAT team from Washoe County was called to the scene.
"We set up a perimeter around the house," Cornell said. "It took about six to seven hours from the initial call to put the suspect into detention."
The suspect was booked into the Mineral County Jail in Hawthorne, about 30 miles north of Mina.
U.S. 95 was shut down shortly after 9:30 p.m. and reopened to one lane of traffic about two hours later, the Nevada Highway Patrol said. During the closure, traffic was rerouted through back streets in town.
The investigation has been turned over to the Nevada Division of Investigations. A division official did not immediately return a phone call.
"The motive is under investigation," Cornell said.
