The first summer of the Capital City Music Series at the Pavilion in Mills Park will showcase several well-known music groups.
"We're particularly excited about the quality performers producer John Procaccini is attracting," said Joe McCarthy, Carson City economic development manager.
The kick-off concert June 13 will feature country music singer Chris LeDoux and the final concert Aug. 29 will be given by The Neville Brothers. Other events include a Mountain Top Tour, classic 1970s hits, jazz, gospel and blues.
The concerts are co-sponsored by the the Carson City Redevelopment Agency, the Carson City Convention & Visitors Bureau, Upstage Theater and the Brewery Arts Center.
The five-concert series runs June 13 through Aug. 29 and each concert can seat up to 2,000 people.
The facility will be fitted with a state-of-the-art concert stage to enhance the performance area and to showcase the performers. Inside the pavilion, trees will be added to create a park-like setting.
"It will just really green it up in there," said Miya MacKenzie, marketing director for the concert series.
Six giant, soft ceiling baffles will reduce sound reverberation and improve aesthetics. Cement columns will be treated with a sound absorbing material.
"We have invested in a system which is visually unobtrusive and floods the entire area with powerful, undistorted music," said Procaccini, chief executive officer of the Upstage Center Theater and concert series producer.
