There are about a dozen young girls in this city who claim to be thoroughly developed spiritual mediums. Harry Gorham, of Gold Hill, a nephew of Senator Jones, is said to be the champion amateur pigeon and glass ball shot in the state.

100 YEARS AGO

President Roosevelt will be conveyed from the depot to the Capitol in the old Tuffly Borouche, one of the finest and most costly carriages ever brought to Nevada. President Grant rode in the same carriage when he made his trip around the world.

70 YEARS AGO

Definite information that the Carson City Mint and Assay Office will be closed at the end of the fiscal year, June 30, via airmail from Sen. Key Pittman. Hope is that it will be closed a short time. He cites the president has a coordinated program which will restore prosperity in this country.

50 YEARS AGO

Albert Seeliger, superintendent of Consolidated School District of Fallon since 1944, is the new superintendent of the Carson School District. He is a graduate of the University of Nevada. Contract was signed by Seeliger and Mrs. Rose Cochran, president of the local school board. She and her fellow trustees, George Thoesen and Don Drummond, are enthusiastic.

20 YEARS AGO

PFC Anne Hyden, stationed at Fort Greeley, Alaska, recently received a certificate of commendation from the U.S. Army's post commanding officer. She graduated from Carson High School.

10 YEARS AGO

Services for Betty Margaret Hellwinkel, 59, a Gardnerville resident for the past 53 years. She attended nursing college, but was a homemaker. Survivors include her husband, Elmer, and son, Chris, of Gardnerville; son, Michael, of Winnemucca; daughters, Patty of Gardnerville and Gail White of Fallon; mother, Clarice Williams, Gardnerville.
