Analysis of truck nearly complete

This week police expect to turn over to Washoe County's crime lab their findings from a truck belonging to a man they believe may have information on the disappearance of a Carson City mother.

Carson City Sheriff's Sgt. Bob White said investigators have almost completed the inspection of Juan Carlos Tellez's 1992 GMC Jimmy truck, which was impounded following an altercation with Tellez in Salt Lake City.

Bertha Anguiano, 33, was last seen Nov. 10 talking in the parking lot of Empire Elementary School with a man matching Tellez's description.

Some 90 minutes later, Anguiano's 3-year-old son, Andrew, was found injured in the parking lot of a Dayton grocery store, about 15 miles from his Carson City home.

He told police he'd been hit by a man named "Juan," and that his mother was dead.

On Nov. 22, Tellez allegedly pulled a weapon on deputies who stopped him for questioning outside an apartment complex in Salt Lake City. He is being held without bail in the Salt Lake jail, awaiting a hearing on felony charges of aggravated assault.

White said Tellez has denied any knowledge of Anguiano's whereabouts. Investigators believe the two were having an affair.

White said detectives are continuing to follow leads and interview people in the hope of finding the married mother of three.

"At this point, we are interviewing people who had face-to-face contact with (Tellez) either before or after she disappeared," he said.

White said search-and-rescue volunteers continue to comb isolated locations looking for clues, but have been unsuccessful.

"We just don't know where to look," he said.
