PR society honors stars, projects

Public relations professionals and programs in northern Nevada have been honored by the Public Relations Society of America Sierra Nevada.

Steven Ascuaga of John Ascuaga's Nugget received the group's Mark Twain Award.

Its recipients exemplify integrity, honesty and concern about the community but are not public relations professionals by trade.

Kerri Garcia of the Rose/Glenn Group received the group's Golden Spike Award, which honors public relations professionals with at least five years experience.

Alison Gaulden of Planned Parenthood, Mar Monte received the Mark Curtis Sr.

Award, which recognizes work for the association during the past year.

Marlene Olsen of Olsen & Associates, meanwhile, was inducted into the group's Hall of Fame.
