A high-profile restaurant location at McCarran Boulevard and Kietzke Lane in south Reno will reopen this week as Brew House Pub and Grill.

The restaurant is owned by Sierra Development Co., the parent company of the Club Cal Neva, and John Klacking, a financial planner and investor from Incline Village.

It will open on Friday.

Jeff Siri, president of Sierra Development, said the partners have undertaken an extensive remodeling of the interior of the pub and grill.

Work on the outside paint and signage also is under way.

Siri said the grill's menu will feature comfort foods such as beef stew and country fried steak at price points targeted to workers in nearby offices as well as shoppers in the Meadowood area and others.

Brew House Pub and Grill also will offer wireless internet access to customers.

Siri said the owners hope the concept will prove strong enough that they can launch other restaurants under the Brew House Pub and Grill brand.

"We think this is a great concept," Siri said.

The location was home to Michael Bros.

Steakhouse, which closed a year ago after its parent company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

Fallon restaurant operator Sonny Zamora also opened in the location for a short time before closing earlier this year.

Siri said, however, he believes the location is strong.

The restaurant initially was a Houlihan's location, one of the first chain restaurants to open in what is now a busy restaurant row.

Houlihan's, Siri said, was a strong performer, particularly in its early months.

It closed in 2001.
