A new FM radio station will be broadcasting to Carson City just in time for Nevada Day.

Station KTKE, 102.5, will bring "Nevada Matters" to the capital starting Nov. 1, according to Eddie Floyd.

The station, based in Truckee, is broadcast at Lake Tahoe on 101.5, and a translator has been erected that will allow the station to serve Carson City, Dayton, Carson Valley and points east.

"Our goal is to reach every jackrabbit in Nevada," Floyd said.

The station has a talk format dedicated to all points of view, according to Floyd. Among the material being broadcast is the radio program "State Your Case" by Attorney General Brian Sandoval, and "Inside the Sheriff's Department" with the Washoe County sheriff.

When they aren't talking, Floyd and Lynn Younger plan to play the music of America.

"Blues, ballads, big bands, oldies, '60s, '70s and '80s, really something for everyone," Floyd said.

At present Nevada Matters broadcasts in Carson City at 1400 KBDB seven days a week.

"We are not one of these big chain companies," Younger said. "We make decisions without going anywhere else."

"Nevada Matters" has been on the air for about 10 years, according to Younger.

"We made enough money with the talk show that now the talk show owns a radio station," he said.

On the weekends, the radio station will broadcast "America Matters."
