Donald Leland Cupp, 75, a Carson City resident for the past 17 years, died Oct. 29, 2003, in Carson City. He was born Sept. 11, 1928, in Mt. Eden, Calif., to John E. and Leila Peters Cupp.
He obtained a Ph.D. in criminal justice and arson investigation from Northwestern University.
He married Cherie Lee Barner.
Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Stanislaus County, Calif., for most of his life. Mr. Cupp had a long career in fire service with the California Department of Forestry and as a classified agent with the U.S. Department of Justice. He served in the U.S. Merchant Marines and the U.S. Army Air Corps in the Strategic Air Command during World War II and Korea.
Among his survivors are his wife of Carson City; children Earl and Dianna, both of Modesto, Calif., and Paul of Chandler, Ariz.; stepson Ron Whitaker of Turlock, Calif.; stepdaughter April Mott of San Jose; mother-in-law Helen Barner of Modesto and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Hospice in Carson City.
A memorial service will be at a later date. Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
