A viewing for Robert D. Williams, 76, a Gardnerville resident for the past 13 years, will be from 3-5 p.m. today at FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home.
Mr. Williams died Sept. 1, 2003, at home. He was born Nov. 16, 1926, in Eaton Rapids, Mich., to Charles Henry and Marion Boatman Williams.
He married Jeannine Lee on Dec. 24, 1947.
Before moving to Gardnerville, he lived in Fremont, Calif., for 26 years.
Mr. Williams retired form General Motors after 30 years as a material handler. He then worked for the Carson Valley Inn for 12 years. He was a member of the Tin Can Sailors.
He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy in 1947.
He was preceded in death by sons Bob and Terry and brother, Jack.
Among his survivors are his wife of Gardnerville; daughters Sandy Williams of Carson City and Merry Eaton of Redding, Calif.; son Larry of Berkeley, Calif.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Cremation will be at FitzHenry's Crematory.
At his request, his ashes will be scattered at sea.
FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
