Circus Circus, Silver Legacy profits fall

Las Vegas-based Mandalay Resort Group said last week its Circus Circus property in Reno had operating income of $3.7 million in the three months ended July 31 compared with income of $5.3 million in the same period a year earlier.

Net revenues were $31 million compared with $30.5 million last year.

Occupancy of the hotel was 87.9 percent dring the quarter compared with 85 percent in the same time last year, and the average room rate was $54, up from $50 last year.

The Silver Legacy, of which Mandalay owns 50 a percent share, earned operating income of $9.3 million in the quarter compared with $9.97 million in the same quarter last year.

Revenues fell to $43.1 million from $44.2 million a year earlier, and the average daily rate in the hotel fell to $64 from $65 last year.
