Joseph P. Vanderbeck, 84, a Carson City resident for the past 13 years, died Sept. 15, 2003, in Reno. He was born Nov. 8, 1918, in Prudhomme, Saskatchewan, Canada, to George and Catherine Vos Vanderbeck.
He attended high school in California and a trade school for machinists.
He married Mary Robinson Dec. 15, 1941, in Reno.
Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Livermore, Calif.
Mr. Vanderbeck was a tool-and-die maker for Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory for more than 30 years.
He served in the U.S. Navy.
Among his survivors are his wife, Mary of Carson City; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Chris of Belmont, Calif.; brother, Hank of Seattle; two grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Private burial will be at Northern Nevada Veterans Cemetery with military honors.
