RENO - A 41-year-old Sparks man died this weekend from injuries sustained in a Aug. 3 accident in Pleasant Valley that claimed the lives of two others.

According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, driver Samuel Cole died Sunday at Washoe Medical Center where he'd been taken following the accident.

Cole was the driver of a northbound 1997 Saturn sedan at Andrew Lane and Highway 395 that struck a guardrail about 4:30 a.m. and crossed into the southbound path of a 199 Chevy Blazer driven by a 41-year-old Sparks woman.

Cole's passengers, 26-year-old Shawn Stewart of Carson City and Heidi Louise Stout, 22, of Orangevale, Calif., were pronounced dead at the scene.

Trooper Chuck Allen said methamphetamine and paraphernalia were found in Cole's vehicle. The results of a toxicology test to determine if Cole was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the crash are not available, Allen said.

Cole's accident happened some 12 hours later and one mile from an accident in the afternoon of Aug. 2 at Ames Lane that claimed the life of John Hanson, 25 of Reno and injured Lance Morrison, 58, of Carson City.

Results from toxicology tests are also pending on that accident.
