Cooke re-elected president of local sportsmen's club

The Ormsby Sportsmen's Association (OSA) of Carson City has re-elected Jack Cooke as its president for 2005.

The announcement of Cook's election was made at the club's annual banquet held last Saturday night. That banquet was attended by a record crowd of some 200 people.

During the evening, Norm Budden was honored as the newest Honorary Life Member of OSA. He joins Dick Biggs, Cookie Callahan, Larry Callahan, Ken Cavin, Andy Gotelli, Bob McCulloch and Don Quilici, the club's other Honorary Life Members.

Also honored was Andy Gotelli, age 95, for being the oldest living member of the club.

Among winners in the 2004 "Big Fish" contest were:

Russ Leifsen: A 14-pound cutthroat trout from Pyramid Lake.

Norm Budden: An 8-pound Walleye from Lahontan Reservoir.

The evening's auctions were highlighted by the $600 Nancy Hettrick winning bid on a framed print of a bobcat.

The evening's raffles were highlighted by Tracy Hettrick winning 10 different prizes.

Cookie Callahan won the annual "Skins" drawing.

On the humorous side, Elaine Quilici won the less-than-prestigious "You Screwed Up" award.

She won it for accidentally canceling her husband's credit card while checking to see if it had any charges on it for Nevada big game hunting tags.
