Woman held without bail on arson charge

A Carson City woman will be in jail through Christmas after a judge ordered her held without bail on an arson charge.

Patricia Lee Floyd, 56, was being held in the Carson City Jail on suspicion of felony arson. She allegedly set fire to her boyfriend's home following an argument over infidelity, said Carson City Sheriff's Detective Sgt. Bob White.

According to the arrest report, Floyd and boyfriend, Kenneth Bynum, argued at his Catalpa Way home on Sunday about 8 p.m.

Bynum told investigators he left the house when Floyd began to destroy property.

When he returned a half hour later, the house was on fire and Floyd was in the front yard trying to put it out with a hose, White wrote in the arrest report.

Floyd was taken to Carson-Tahoe Hospital where she was treated for smoke inhalation.

White said fire investigators determined the fire was intentionally set and alcohol was used as fuel.

"The arson investigator said he's 100 percent sure this is arson," White said.

Attempts to interview Floyd at the hospital were unsuccessful because she was "too intoxicated and uncooperative," White said.

Floyd refused medical attention against a doctor's advice and was booked into the Carson City Jail at 1 a.m. Monday.

Floyd is being held without bail. She will appear in court Dec. 27 on the arson charge.

On Jan. 10 she will be in court to answer to charges of drunken driving and hit and run from an Oct. 28 arrest.
