Mt.Rose Highway's landmark Christmas Tree Restaurant began its rebirth as the Tannenbaum - an events center for weddings, anniversaries and banquets of up to about 250 people - this fall.

The project hit a bit of a snag, though, says Michelle Nobis, one of four co-owners,when construction bids came in higher than expected.

But the group of event planners and entrepreneurs is not deterred.

First demolition of the restaurant's front entrance should begin before Christmas, says Michelle Nobis. And that will be followed forthwith by framing of a new porte cochere, followed by intensive interior work through the winter."And we're still looking at Spring 2005 to be up and running," says Nobis.
