Tim Casey, an intellectual property lawyer and an entrepreneur in Washington, D.C.,will join the University of Nevada, Reno his alma mater to advance opportunities for public and private collaborations.
Casey will help UNR develop programs in entrepreneurship and will encourage faculty activities that expand the transfer of technology to industry.
Casey is partner and chairman of the intellectual property and technology law department of New York City-based Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver and Jacobson.He also has served as chief technology counsel for MCI, director of intellectual property for Silicon Graphics, Inc.
and as patent counsel for Apple.
He also was a primary author and negotiator of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.
Casey holds one patent, and another is pending.
