A minimum-security prisoner walked away from custody at Stewart Conservation Camp over the weekend.

Staff realized Jacob Swift, who is serving a three- to 10-year sentence for a Wahoe County robbery, was missing on Saturday night.

"He was one of these minimum-security people who go out every day to work at forestry camps or on farms," said Jackie Crawford, Nevada Department of Corrections director.

"And he just didn't come back."

The inmate is a nonviolent offender, she said.

"He's basically working on kind of a trusty status."

The department is taking his escape seriously, however, with all agencies alerted and attempting to locate him.

"I'm sure we'll apprehend him," Crawford said.
