A memorial service will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church for Michael John Tlachac, 50, a Carson City resident for the past 40 years. The Rev. Jerry Hanley is officiating.

A gathering for family and friends will follow at the Plaza Hotel, 801 S. Carson St.

Mr. Tlachac died Feb. 15, 2004, at home of colon cancer.

Born May 19, 1953, in Sturgeon Bay, Wisc., to Adrian and Millie Tlachac, he graduated from Carson High School in 1971.

Mr. Tlachac married Paula McCleary on June 30, 1973, in Carson City.

He came to Carson City in 1964 from Sturgeon Bay and worked as the lead construction specialist for Southwest Gas Corp. for 26 years.

He enjoyed camping, boating, skiing at Lake Almanor and being with family and friends. He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan.

Mr. Tlachac was a member of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church.

Among his survivors are his wife, Paula, son, Chad and parents all of Carson City; brothers Jeff of Carson City and Gregg of Sammamish, Wash.; sisters Marybeth Olson of Carson City and Lynne Gwiazdowski of Vacaville, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Capitol Cremation & Burial Society in Carson City is in charge of arrangements.
