One of the country's top businesswomen will be the featured speaker at the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada's annual luncheon this month.
Lorrie Norrington, executive vice president of Intuit in Reno and one of the top five women to watch, according to Fortune magazine's October 2003 issue featuring "The 50 Most Powerful Women in American Business," will speak at the event to be held March 25.
Prior to her speech, EDAWN will present "Business of the Year" awards to two northern Nevada companies in recognition for their contributions to the community, environmental stewardship, higher than average wage and import dollars generated by exporting its products or services.
In the small business category, the nominees are Independent Inc., Memec, Hopkins Distribution, Gary Platt Manufacturing, Solecon Laboratories and PC-Doctor, Inc.
Harley-Davidson Financial Services, GameTech International, Starbuck's Roasting Plant, Haws Company, Arrow Electronics, Ozburn-Hessey Logistics and Pfizer are nominees in the large business category.
